As a choreographer for the film Malcolm X's ballroom scene, I wanted to make sure that wherever the camera looked, there was authentic action. I didn't show the camera anything I did not want it to see.
Wanting to have a natural real people quality, I cast people of different races, ages, weights, heights, and sizes. Near the end, the dance calms down to allow Malcolm (Denzil) to take the stage. |
